What is Triple Negative Breast Cancer?

Just in recent years, Triple Negative Breast Cancer has sparked interest in the news where instead of calling the tumor as ER-negative, PR-negative, and HER2-negative; researchers began using the shorthand term, "Triple Negative," dubbed the "new type" type of cancer. Being Triple Negative, you don't have a targeted therapy and that your only treatment option is chemotherapy.

Triple Negative is seen in about 15% of all breast cancers. Triple Negative is a very aggressive cancer that tends to strike younger women, pre-menopause, especially among African-American women and women who have BRCA1 mutations. The tumor tends to be fast growing and is less likely to show up on an annual mammogram. TN is more likely to metastasis early on; has a high rate of recurrence in the first 2-3 years from diagnosis and has a poorer prognosis than other types of breast cancer due to lack of specific, targeted treatment for TNBC.

Mom... It's Cancer By Kathy Crews

Mom...It's Cancer: One Family, Two Women, Two Battles, Too Unimaginable! [Paperback]

Kathy Crews (Author)   momitscancer.com
Pg. 52 excerpt - " ... Tracy was learning more about triple-negative breast cancer, and  she was frightened by the number of unknowns about this cancer."...

Editorial Review by Peter Bonanno, Senior Pastor Grace Capital Church, Pembroke, N.H.
"Cancer...it's a word that many people fear and others avoid talking about. In this great story of living life with all of its disappointments, Kathy Crews shares the journey of discovering God's love as she walked through her own daughter's diagnosis and treatment for breast cancer. With much prayer and faith, Kathy helped her daughter and family press through, only to discover a few years later that she would be struck with the same disease. Somebody once said that everyone wants a miracle, but that no one wants to be in the position where they really need one. This is a book for those who need faith and who need a miracle. But don't expect there to be quick or easy answers, for as Kathy's story will help you to discover, it's through our most difficult circumstances that God can work the most good in our lives and cause us to produce fruit that is a blessing to many others."
